Caveman Epic Alpha Hunts an MPAA Rating
Aside from a trailer and poster released earlier this year, there hasn’t been a whole lot of marketing for Sony Pictures’ upcoming caveman epic Alpha, which is a little strange seeing as it opens in wide release in just a few short months. Although at least we now know what it’s rated.
Originally titled The Solutrean, Alpha has received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA for “some intense peril.” So don’t expect to see those cavemen hitting each other too hard over the heads with their clubs because brains and skull fragments would turn away the teen crowd.
Alpha stars Kodi Smit-McPhee as a lone hunter who forms a strong bond with a wolf after he becomes separated from his tribe, with the supporting cast including Leonor Varela, Natassia Malthe, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Mercedes de la Zerda, and Jens Hultén.
The film was directed by Albert Hughes and written by Dan Wiedenhaupt, and it will hit theaters across the US on March 2, 2018.
