Exclusive MoniKa Trailer and Stills; Director Steven R. Monroe Talks!

It’s been a couple of weeks since we last reported on I Spit on Your Grave director Steven R. Monroe’s latest feature, MoniKa, although in touching base with the filmmaker recently he provided us with another exclusive batch of production stills as well as an exclusive trailer for the Cerina Vincent-starring revenge thriller. Read on!

Co-executive produced by actress Vincent (who appears in the titular role) with Monroe and producers Anthony Fankhauser and Corey A. Jackson, MoniKa stars Jason Wiles and C. Thomas Howell as well as Jeff Branson, Chad Lindberg and Andrew Howard (the three appeared in Monroe’s I Spit on Your Grave redux) and actors Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Shayla Beesley (Spreading Darkness), Raffaello Degruttola, Elisa Donovan and genre vet Tim Thomerson.

Said Monroe of the film’s personality as it defines itself during the post-production process (the flick wrapped on July 26th, having shot on location in Vegas, Yucca Valley and the Big Picture Soundstage in Burbank, California), “At its heart it’s a good guy/girl versus the bad guys revenge tale in its truest form.”

Regarding the aspects of the director’s own personality unique to MoniKa (Monroe has helmed a wide array of varying genre flicks from the hard edged I Spit on Your Grave to the pure man-in-a-suit old school creature flick It Waits, among others), the filmmaker offered, “I don’t think after the amount of films I have directed that there is any of my personality that has not come out at one time or another although I think the personality that in the past was not allowed to say ‘No, this is the right thing or the best thing for the film’ is certainly out this time, and for me ultimately that ends up being for the best of the film, when the filmmaker gets to do his job.”

Synopsis
The film is a violent, edgy ride focusing on the forlorn Reagan Tyler, a man who is troubled by visions and premonitions that ultimately lead him to Las Vegas. It’s there that Reagan meets the beautiful and mysterious Monika, a young woman who turns out to have been killed the night before he even met her. Reagan is then forced to put the puzzle together of what happened, how she is still present, and help Monika with her revenge on the killers of her younger sister.
