Exclusive Video Interview: Rose McGowan Talks Conan the Barbarian

Our exclusive video interview series for Marcus Nispel’s Conan the Barbarian 3D comes to an end today, and we saved the best for last: Rose McGowan, who portrays Marique, the mystical daughter of malevolent warlord Khalar Zym, in the film.
For five years genre favorite McGowan played good witch Paige Halliwell on the long-running WB series “Charmed.” For her latest role in Conan the Barbarian, though, McGowan is leaving Paige behind and returns to her bad girl roots (I know it’s not necessarily a genre flick, but this writer still thinks Jawbreaker is one of the more underrated dark comedies of the last 20 years) with her portrayal of the evil witch Marique, who is as deadly as she is loyal to her father (Stephen Lang) and his plans for both immortality and domination over the nations of Hyboria.
Several weeks ago Dread Central caught up with McGowan during the Conan the Barbarian press day to chat with the actress about her role in the flick, how her character was originally written as the son of Khalar Zym but adapted once she met with producers for the film, as well as the arduous process McGowan went through daily getting into both prosthetics and some rather lavish yet complicated costumes that required several people to help her get in and out of.
Check out our interview with the always wonderful McGowan below, and make sure to check out Conan the Barbarian (review here) from Lionsgate in theaters starting Friday, August 19th!
