Fright Night CENTRAL, Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, David TennanAfter 26 years, the people are talking about Fright Night again … and in a surprisingly good way, too. So we thought that in addition to our dueling reviews, you might like to check out what some other critics are saying about the movie.

This re-imagining of Fright Night is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Marti Noxon. It stars Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, David Tennant, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Toni Collette.

While Dread Central’s Heather Wixson reviewed Fright Night as “one of those rare remakes that has the ability to hold its head up proudly on its own merits“, Dread Central’s Andrew Kasch was not as excited, declaring that it “isn’t a terrible remake; it’s just a mediocre and ultimately pointless one“.

Scott Bowles, USA Today: “While remaining sharp-tongued, the film knows its place on the teen landscape. Vampires are hot property, and references to Twilight abound.

A.O. Scott, New York Times: “The old ‘Fright Night’ was both self-aware and effectively scary, and if this one seems to prefer gruesome digital effects to old-fashioned bump-in-the-night spookiness, it still succeeds in keeping the audience both tickled and anxious.

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times: “As vampire movies go, ‘Fright Night’ is a pretty good one.

Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter: “This decent remake of the ’80s vampire favorite should satiate horror fans.
