There’s a New Death Wish Trailer; Just Thought You’d Like to Know
A few months ago we posted the first trailer for Eli Roth’s Death Wish. Back then I thought the film looked pretty entertaining! There was something about how things were edited that gave me some hope. With this new trailer I’m not feeling anything negative towards the film. I’m just… meh?
Based on what I’m seeing, I feel like we already got a damn solid Death Wish remake, and that was in the form of James Wan’s 2007 film Death Sentence. This simply looks to be retreading ground we’ve already walked on, all while being set against a backdrop of a racially-charged Chicago, where Bruce Willis has to be the one to save the day. I’m not saying anything one way or the other about the storyline, I’m just saying that the current social climate suggests that a bit of extra thought wouldn’t have hurt anyone.
As mentioned, Death Wish is a remake of the Charles Bronson-led 1974 film of the same name, which itself was based on Brian Garfield’s original novel. This film was written by Joe Carnahan, who brought us The Grey.
Starring alongside Willis are Vincent D’Onofrio, Dean Norris, Elisabeth Shue, Camila Morrone, and Kimberly Elise.
Death Wish comes out March 2, 2018.
