Cody Carpenter’s Solo Album Dropped Today

For those who have seen John Carpenter on his tours in recent years, you’ve also been lucky enough to hear and see his son, Cody. What you may not know is that Cody has been releasing his own music for years under the stage name Ludrium. Combining elements of synth with prog rock and jazz, the younger Carpenter’s music is infectious, catchy, and a total throwback to the 80’s years of groups like Genesis, Yes, Camel, ELP, and the like. If this has your musical interest piqued, allow me to recommend Carpenter’s brand new solo album Cody Carpenter’s Interdependence, which came out today via Blue Canoe Records.

The 11-track album, which you can buy here, features tracks like the upbeat “Face the Future” alongside the cinematic pulsations of “The Divide”, the percussive “The Procession”, and the spaced-out funk on “Premonition”.

Carpenter has performed on his father’s films Vampires and Ghosts of Mars while composing the entirety of the scores for the “Masters of Horror” episodes ‘Cigarette Burns’ and ‘Pro-life’.

If you think you’re going to be getting something similar to his father’s recordings, think again. Cody is most certainly striking out on his own and creating something that honors his family yet proves he’s forging his own path.
