“Godfather of Gore” Herschell Gordon Lewis is back – with his biggest and bloodiest film yet! Film Ranch and Cult Movie Mania have announced the August 30th DVD release of The Uh-Oh! Show, the all-new horror/comedy by acclaimed horror film legend H.G. Lewis, director of Blood Feast and Two Thousand Maniacs.
H.G. Lewis’ The Uh-Oh! Show (mini-review here) is distributed by Shriek Show, the horror movie division of the popular Media Blasters label, famous for releasing Lewis’ previous hit Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat. The all-new website CultMovieMania.com, soon to be THE resource for all things cinematically weird and wild, plans on offering an exclusive special package of Lewis’ new film, complete with the bonus documentary DVD Herschell Gordon Lewis and the Making of The Uh-Oh! Show.
The DVD release showcases generous bonus extras: a behind-the-scenes featurette, three audio commentaries (director, stars, producers) and the official trailer, which you can check out below along with the DVD cover art.
The first film written and directed by Lewis in nearly forty years, The Uh-Oh! Show tells the terrorific tale of Jill Burton, a gore-geous reporter hot on the trail of a maniacal TV game show. Answer right, win a prize; answer wrong, contestant dies! Filled with Lewis’ trademark special make-up effects, over-the-top gore, and cinematic insanity, The Uh-Oh! Show presents the macabre maestro at the top of his game. It stars Brooke McCarter (The Lost Boys), Nevada Caldwell (“Army Wives”), “King of the B-Movies” Joel D. Wynkoop, and Mike Christopher (Dawn of the Dead).
Producer Andrew Allan recalls what it was like working with cinema legend H.G. Lewis: “Having grown up with Herschell’s films such as ‘Blood Feast’ and ‘The Gruesome Twosome’, never did I imagine that I would one day be producing the best and goriest film of his career!” Producer Andy Lalino adds: “Our cast and crew had the utmost respect and reverence for H.G. Lewis, who once again demonstrated ground-breaking horror directorial techniques and unique storytelling as a screenwriter – this film is likely to thrust horror films in a new direction – his ‘Godfather of Gore’ title blazes eternal!”
H.G. Lewis’ The Uh-Oh! Show has been honored with two festival awards: The coveted AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD at the Texas Frightmare Weekend horror convention and BEST FEATURE HORROR FILM at the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival. H.G. Lewis has been honored at the 2010 Stiges Festival in Spain and has received the Chiller Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award for his cinematic works.
Herschell Gordon Lewis’ The Uh-Oh! Show will be screening at select engagements around the world over the coming months, most recently on August 24th and 25th at the Mayfair Theater in Ottowa, Canada. The film is presented by Film Ranch and Lion’s Kill Productions. Look for screenings in your town and around the globe!
