A New Tool Video Might Be Coming This Year From Alien: Covenant’s VFX Artist

In an interesting bit of music-meets-horror news, fans of progressive rock/metal band Tool will be delighted to hear that there is more evidence that the group will be releasing new music this year, the first such offering in an 11-year drought (10,000 Days was released in 2007). This news comes from a rather interesting source, which is in the form of an interview done with Dominic Hailstone, one of the visual effects artists on last year’s Alien: Covenant, over at Yutani.blog.

The interview consists of Hailstone talking about his relationship with the Alien franchise, the work that he offered to the latest entry, his experience with practical and visual effects work, what inspired him, and, here’s where it gets interesting, projects he’s excited that are coming up.

Hailstone tells the site, “A video for Tool that should be coming out later this year. Adam Jones gave me complete artistic freedom so the only constraint was the budget, we had a lot of fun figuring that out.

Tool fans know that guitarist Adam Jones is also the driving force behind the band’s music videos, having directed all of them except for “Hush”, “Sober” and “Vicarious” (Jones co-directed the latter two).

Below is a video directed by Hailstone which certainly gives off a lot of Tool-esque vibes, especially “Stinkfist”.
