Alex Garland Doesn’t Think There Will Ever Be a 28 Months Later
One of the best zombie film series out there is the 28 Days Later franchise which to this day only includes the original Danny Boyle film and the stellar follow up 28 Weeks Later.
There has been talk of a third entry in the series, cleverly titled 28 Months Later, but we haven’t heard much about it for years now. That said, today we have an unfortunate update as screenwriter Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Dredd, Ex Machina) hosted a Reddit AMA recently and when a fan asked if there were plans for another film, the answer wasn’t what we all hoped for.
“Kind of,” Garland responded. “But doubt it will ever happen.”
Darn. Personally, as sick as I am of zombie films, I’d still be down for another entry in this series. Especially if original director Danny Boyle came back to helm more rabid mayhem.
We’ll let you know if anything changes in the future, but until then let us know if you’re upset that there will (probably) never be a 28 Months Later.
28 Days Later synopsis:
A group of misguided animal rights activists free a caged chimp infected with the “Rage” virus from a medical research lab. When London bike courier Jim (Cillian Murphy) wakes up from a coma a month after, he finds his city all but deserted. On the run from the zombie-like victims of the Rage, Jim stumbles upon a group of survivors, including Selena (Naomie Harris) and cab driver Frank (Brendan Gleeson), and joins them on a perilous journey to what he hopes will be safety.
