Whether you like it or not, a remake of the Dario Argento classic Suspiria is well on its way featuring music from Goblin (hey, at least there’s that). Could the success of Black Swan sway the project in any way? Read on for details.
Complex recently caught up with director David Gordon Green to get the scoop.
“[‘Black Swan’] did inspire me to think, ‘Well, I want to go younger now. I want this to be about 14-, 15-year-old girls, rather than women who are Natalie’s age.’ It made me not want to do what ‘Black Swan’ kind of did with the psychology and thriller elements of older characters. If anything, I want to focus on the younger, more naïve kinds of characters—the wide-eyed, ‘Snow White’ version of the movie, rather than a more sophisticated, sexual version of it.”
Of course! It’s not enough that Black Swan and Suspiria are pretty much apples and oranges. Why should we get a sophisticated version when there are teens waiting for their big breaks? Sigh.
Stay tuned for more as it comes; in the interim we’re off to don a sandwich board with the words “Fuck My Life” scrawled across it in our own blood.
