When it comes to beating off the living dead, the more people you have helping you, the better. Wait … no, that sentence didn’t exactly come out the way that I meant it. Let’s try that again … When beating off hordes of zombies … no, that didn’t work either. Either way read on for casting news.
According to Variety Analeigh Tipton (pictured right), Dave Franco and Cory Hardrict are in line to join Summit Entertainment’s zombie flick Warm Bodies, an adaptation of Isaac Marion’s novel that Jonathan Levine (50/50) is writing and directing.
Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and Rob Corddry star alongside John Malkovich, who Variety recently revealed is in final negotiations to play the pic’s villain, General Grigio, who’s obsessed with the destruction of the zombie threat.
Hoult stars as an existentially tormented zombie named “R” who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend (Palmer) of one of his victims, starting a chain reaction that has widespread consequences.
Tipton is in negotiations to play Nora, Palmer’s best friend, who struggles with her budding emotions in a world infested by zombies.
Franco is closing a deal to play Perry Kelvin, Palmer’s boyfriend, who gets over his initial fear of zombies and helps lead the human resistance.
Hardrict is set to play Kevin, one of Palmer’s dorky friends who serves as Malkovich’s right-hand man. He’s a member of an enclave of humans who have enclosed themselves within a walled city known as the Green Zone.
Bruna Papandrea is producing through her Make Movies banner along with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman via their Mandeville Films banner. Laurie Webb and Cori Shepherd Stern are exec producing.
More soon.
