The House With a Clock in its Walls Gets Delightful 80’s Trailer
The first trailer for Eli Roth’s The House With a Clock in its Walls has made its way online and I am completely enchanted! This looks like a delightful blend of horror and childish wonder. Exploding with imagination and featuring some dazzling set production, the movie looks like it’s going to be the perfect Fall offering for families to venture out to theaters.
Considering the roster of Eli Roth’s offerings (Hostel, Cabin Fever, Death Wish, etc…), I find myself almost just as intrigued to see if he can pull this off as I am by the movie itself. But with how charming everything appears to be, and with how well the cast seemed to have gelled on set, I’m leaning FAR more into the side of optimism than negativity. I really hope that this is going to become a new family-friendly horror classic on the same level as Gremlins or The Nightmare Before Christmas.
“The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.”
Written by Eric Kripke, based on the novel by John Bellairs, and directed by Eli Roth, The House With a Clock in its Walls stars Jack Black, Owen Vaccaro, Cate Blanchett, and Kyle MacLachlan. It will be coming to theaters on September 21.
