Exclusive: Chimera Clip Snips the Tip
When sci-fi and horror blend together in just the right measurements, it often results in a concoction that is pure magic. So when a new hybrid of the two genres comes knocking at my door, I take interest. Hence why I want to introduce you to Chimera, which will be making it’s North American premiere at this year’s Boston International Film Festival on April 11.
The film follows a scientist who is desperate to save his children from an incurable degenerative disease. Sinking to inhumane experiments, he thinks he may have found a cure in a specific jellyfish. But how far is he willing to go to see if his hypothesis is correct? In our exclusive clip, you’ll see the lengths to which he’ll go and it’s not for the squeamish.
“Quint, a brilliant but disturbed scientist performs dangerous experiments and tests risky procedures on his children (including transplanting animal organs and editing their genome). When their condition continues to deteriorate, he freezes them alive to suspend the progression of their deadly genetic disease. Convinced that the secrets of immortality are encoded within the Turritopsis jellyfish, he races against time to save his children by decoding the jellyfish’s DNA.”
Written and directed by Maurice Haeems, Chimera stars Henry Ian Cusick (“Lost”), Kathleen Quinlan (The Hills Have Eyes), Jenna Harrison (12 Days of Terror), and Karishma Ahluwalia (Savages).
