Henenlotter Movie Fest at Brooklyn Alamo Drafthouse
NYC indie auteur Frank Henenlotter is all over the place these days. His new documentary, Boiled Angels: The Trial of Mike Diana, premieres this Saturday at the IFC Center’s rollicking What the Fest?! (see details here). And beginning this Tuesday, April 3 at Brooklyn’s Alamo Drafthouse, you can see a choice selection of his freaky films (from the Basket Case trilogy to Bad Biology), introduced by the man himself!
On the occasion of the recent 4K restoration of his notorious Basket Case by the Museum of Modern Art, and celebrating the 30th anniversary of Brain Damage (his best work), the series will unspool all of Henenlotter’s exploitation films and his rare short Slash of the Knife. In addition, Henenlotter has curated an amazing sidebar of his personal genre faves (including The Quatermass Xperiment, The Brides of Dracula, The Awful Dr. Orlof, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne and more), which he will also intro as part of the Drafthouse’s weekly Terror Tuesday and Weird Wednesday programs.
Watch a trailer for the featured films above and the full series (which runs through April 16) info is here.
