Why the Hell’s the Lake Placid: Legacy Trailer So F*cking Serious?
Two months back we first brought you guys news that there is a new Lake Placid flick in the works and today we already have the film’s trailer and release date! Yes, SyFy Wire just announced that the new film Lake Placid: Legacy will premiere on SYFY this Memorial Day Monday, May 28.
The trailer is a bit serious for my tastes, but what are you gonna do? I mean I’m not expecting Zombeavers to show up and battle the killer croc (although I totally should now that I think about it). But this trailer features nary a joke. In fact, there are more severed heads in this trailer than jokes. But maybe that’s what the Lake Placid series needs: a gritty reboot… but I doubt it.
You can check out the super serious trailer below and then make sure to let us know if you’re excited to check out the new film on SyFy this Memorial Day in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
The sequel is directed by Darrell Roodt from a script written by Jonathan Lloyd Walker (Van Helsing) and stars Joe Pantoliano (The Goonies, The Matrix), Katherine Barrell (Wynonna Earp), Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp), and Sai Bennett (Leprechaun Returns).
Lake Placid: Legacy premieres on SYFY at 9 p.m. Monday, May 28 (Memorial Day).
Synopsis:
Taking place several years after the events of the original film, Legacy finds the team of young explorers out to reveal the secrets of an area removed from modern-day maps and hidden behind electric fences. However, once they reach the center of the lake, they discover an island that harbors an abandoned facility with a horrific legacy: the island is home to a deadly predator eager to feast on those dumb enough to ignore the warnings. But before they can turn back, our hapless heroes get dragged into a battle for their lives — and will need to work together if they hope to survive.
