If the thought of spooky ghost kids laying their spectral hands upon your car while it’s settled over train tracks spooks you, believe me when I tell you that you’re not alone. Munger Road is one of Illinois’ most haunted places, and a new featurette has hit online to give you a look at the movie based upon the legend.

Coming to theatres on September 30th is Nicholas Smith’s Munger Road starring Bruce Davison, Randall Batinkoff, Trevor Morgan, Brooke Peoples, Hallock Beals and Lauren Storm.

Details are scant at the moment, but we do know that the film centers on two small-town cops who begin a search for four teens who go missing the night before the town’s annual Scarecrow Festival.

A popular Munger Road tale says at one time a school bus filled with children stalled on the train tracks was hit by a train, which killed everyone inside. According to the legend, if someone shifts a car into neutral over the tracks and dusts powder on the back window, then hands will appear to be pushing the car off of the tracks.

In reality the infamous “road” is actually a stretch of Stearns Road near Powis Road. For years Illinois teens have stopped on the abandoned train tracks in hopes of finding a ghost using baby powder.

Head on over to the official Munger Road website for more.

From working with George Romero on everything from Creepshow and Dawn of the Dead to Tales from the Darkside to the Dune miniseries to his Netflix series Residue...he's done it all. He even directed Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, which was Andrew LaSane's Scarred for Life pick, which is one of Terry's favorite movies.
