Guillermo Del Toro Co-Writing SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK!
A few months back we let you guys know that The Autopsy of Jane Doe director Andre Ovredal will be helming a live-action adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s classic kids-horror books Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
We knew back then that Guillermo del Toro was producing the movie but today we have word via THR that del Toro has also co-written the film’s script!
Yes, Del Toro co-wrote the movie with Daniel Hageman and Kevin Hageman (The Lego Movie, Hotel Transylvania) and the film will be introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival by Sierra/Affinity.

The film is directed by Andre Ovredal from a script written by Guillermo del Toro, Daniel Hageman, and Kevin Hageman based on Alvin Schwartz’s internationally best-selling book series. Del Toro will produce the film along with Sean Daniel, Elizabeth Grave, Jason F. Brown and J. Miles Dale. CBS Films distributes the film domestically via Lionsgate.
It will be shot in Toronto this summer.
Synopsis:
The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.
