James Wan’s SWAMP THING TV Series Announced!
DC has an upcoming VOD service called DC Universe on the way, and today we have word that one of the first series the platform has picked up is James Wan’s Swamp Thing!
The drama has a script-to-series order – meaning if a quality script comes in, the drama would be picked up straight to series.
And speaking of the script, THR reports Gary Dauberman (Stephen King’s IT, Annabelle: Creation) will be penning the pilot along with Mark Verheiden. Not only that, but the two will serve as showrunners as well.
Wan will exec produce the series, based on DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, alongside Michael Clear, Verheiden and Dauberman, with Rob Hackett set as co-exec producer.

The DC Digital service launches in 2018 so hopefully we’ll hear more soon. Stay tuned!
Synopsis:
The drama follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
