Monroe and O’Brien Join THE CONSPIRACY Director’s New Mystery Thriller

I’m a big fan of found footage and while the flick we’re here to talk about today isn’t found footage, it’s directed by Christopher MacBride who helmed the underappreciated found footage creeper classic The Conspiracy back in 2012.

That film caught my attention big time so I’ve been keeping track of MacBride just in case. And all that stalking has paid off as Deadline just reported that his new mystery thriller has found its leads with Maika Monroe (IT Follows) and Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf).

The film is currently going by the cumbersome title The Education Of Fredrick Fitzell but ten bucks says before this film hits theaters the title will be switched to the much simpler and more evocative moniker, Mercury (see synopsis below for namesake).

The script is unlike anything I’ve read,” says producer Lee Kim. “Chris has crafted a unique, brilliant story – one that transcends genre and provides a surreal snapshot of a man on the brink of collapse. It’s a testament to his writing, vision, and characters that we have such an amazing cast lined up. I’m excited to help bring this to life.”

The Education Of Fredrick Fitzell is written and directed by Christopher MacBride and star Dylan O’Brien and Maika Monroe. Lee Kim will produce with Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder executive producing. Protagonist will launch the film to buyers in Cannes, with ICM Partners and Endeavor Content handling North America.

The film is due to shoot later this summer.

Synopsis:

A man begins to unravel a long-hidden mystery about a missing girl, a drug called Mercury, and a terrifying creature that has followed him into adulthood.
