Rest in Peace: Margot Kidder of THE AMITYVILLE HORROR and BLACK CHRISTMAS Has Passed Away
Very sad news as it’s been confirmed by TMZ that actress Margot Kidder passed away this weekend at her home in Montana. No cause of death has been issued.
Although widely recognized for her performance as Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeve-led Superman films, Kidder was no stranger to the horror genre. She played Barb in 1974’s Black Christmas as well as Kathy Lutz in the wildly popular film adaptation of The Amityville Horror. Later in her career, she appeared in R.L. Stine’s show The Haunting Hour, for which she won an Emmy in 2015.
Kidder had a long battle with bipolar disorder, which saw a publicized manic episode in the mid-90’s after her computer crashed, losing three years worth of drafts for her autobiography. For many years after that, however, she stated that she had not had a manic episode.
We send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the legions of fans who were inspired and awed by her characters over the years.
