Freeform Presents HOCUS POCUS 25th Anniversary Extravaganza This Halloween

Earlier this week Freeform announced that their famous 13 Nights of Halloween programming block will be expanded this year to a month-long 31 Nights of Halloween. And better yet, the whole thing will be kicked off by something (hopefully) very cool for those of you out there with kiddies.

The Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Extravaganza will be kicking things off in celebration of the film 25th birthday. Specific details regarding the “spooktacular” special have yet to be announced at this time but we will keep you guys up-to-date on just what we can expect this Halloween.

I’m excited about this as I cannot help but be a major fan of the original film. I saw it when I was in, like, third grade and it made a huge impression on me. In fact, I think this film, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1992) and Ernest Scared Stupid (1991) were mostly responsible for my love of horror movies today. If you haven’t seen the film yet, give it a try this Halloween. I’m sure you’ll love it on some level. It just overflows with the love of all things Halloween.

Synopsis:

After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches’ book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.
