Brazilian Folklore Character SACI Horror Pitch Acquired

Nate Atkins

UK producer and financier Hindsight Media has acquired a horror pitch by S. Darko scribe Nate Atkins and Rodrigo Brandao called Saci. The pitch is based on a well-known character from Brazilian folklore.

The character is the spirit of an Afro-Brazilian slave boy who ripped his leg off to free himself from chains and is often depicted as one-legged, with holes in the palms of his hands and wearing a magical red cap that enables him to disappear and reappear wherever he wishes.

This sounds like an interesting (if extremely controversial) horror pitch so we’ll see if it actually comes to fruition.

Atkins is developing the story Deadline reports with Jon Kanak producing alongside Hindsight Media. Rodrigo Brandao will executive produce.
