E3 2018: Agent 47 Returns in HITMAN 2
After various leaks, Hitman 2 has been officially announced just ahead of E3. The game will once again see the return of master assassin Agent 47 as he sets out to put a stop to the sinister activities committed by his archnemesis known as the Shadow Client. For the first time in the franchise’s history, there will also be online co-operative play in the form of the new ‘Sniper Assassin’ game mode, which can be accessed now by those who pre-order.
Following on from the news last year that Square Enix would be ending their investment in Hitman series developer IO Interactive, Hitman 2 will instead be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a company known for trying to bleed their consumers dry. Having said that, we know that Hitman 2 at least won’t be episodic, with IO studio head Hakan Abrak was quoted as saying “you’ll get the entire main story on the day of release”, so we can breath a sigh of relief about that. Square allegedly forced IO to unwillingly chop up the first game into separate release packages in the final stages of its development, but this time we’ll actually be paying for a full, complete game (although knowing WB, it will be crammed with microtransactions).
Anyway, we don’t have too long to wait until we can murder with style, as Hitman 2 launches on PC and consoles on November 13.
