E3 2018: METRO EXODUS Evolves The Franchise Whilst Holding On To What Made It Unique
Microsoft proudly showed off a new trailer for Metro Exodus, the third entry in the first-person horror franchise, during their E3 press conference. Like the first two entries in the series, Exodus is once again being developed by 4A Games, and will take place in a post-apocalyptic version of Russia overrun with mutants and monsters.
In addition to the trailer, publisher Deep Silver also released a seventeen minute gameplay video at E3, which shows off one of the game’s huge levels in addition to its stunningly beautiful visuals. Although the previous Metro entries gave us mostly non-linear levels with branching paths, Exodus will be the closest the series has ever come to embracing a fully open world, meaning that you’ll be able to explore vast areas of open Russian wilderness as you progress through the story-driven adventure.
We can also see that once again, we’ll be able to customize our weapons and equipment, and for the first time in the series, the addition of a day and night cycle will impact the number of enemies in a location at any given time. As a longtime Metro fans, I’m proud to see that the games in the franchise are changing and evolving whilst still holding on to what made them unique.
Metro Exodus will be published by Deep Silver on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 22 February 2019.
