LAKE PLACID: LEGACY Chomps Down on MPAA Rating

I can’t help but look forward to SyFy’s upcoming reboot of the Lake Placid series, which premiered over on the network this past Memorial Day. If you missed it like me, we (might) have some good news.

It looks like Lake Placid: Legacy may be heading our way on Blu-ray/DVD soon as today we have word via the MPAA that the flick has scored an R rating for “creature violence and related gore.” Sounds good to me!

This isn’t confirmation that the film is heading to Blu-ray and/or DVD soon, but why bother to rate the film if it isn’t? Exactly. Are you excited for this reboot/sequel? Make sure to let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

The sequel is directed by Darrell Roodt from a script written by Jonathan Lloyd Walker (Van Helsing) and stars Joe Pantoliano (The Goonies, The Matrix), Katherine Barrell (Wynonna Earp), Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp), and Sai Bennett (Leprechaun Returns).

We’ll let you know when we hear more!

Synopsis:

Taking place several years after the events of the original film, Legacy finds the team of young explorers out to reveal the secrets of an area removed from modern-day maps and hidden behind electric fences. However, once they reach the center of the lake, they discover an island that harbors an abandoned facility with a horrific legacy: the island is home to a deadly predator eager to feast on those dumb enough to ignore the warnings. But before they can turn back, our hapless heroes get dragged into a battle for their lives — and will need to work together if they hope to survive.
