Exclusive: Stream KAELAN MIKLA’s “Reykjavík til Sta∂ar” From Mánadans
Between the years of 2013 and 2015, Icelandic synth-punk trio Kælan Mikla finished recording their first album Mánadans with producer Alison MacNeil. However, due to unknown reasons, the album was shelved and never saw the light of day until an extremely limited cassette release last year, one that stirred the appetites of fasn of this witchy post punk coven. Not content to allow their music to be heard only by a select few, the group has teamed with Artoffact Records to bring the album to digital, CD, and vinyl on August 3 and we’re here to give you a taste of the album’s bonus track “Reykjavík til Staðar”.
Raw, hypnotic, and enchanting, “Reykjavík til Staðar”, pulsates with echoed vocals, thick bass, and shoegaze fuzzed-out pads full of scratches and barbs.
The band’s seductive, alluring, and haunting sound has enamored many, including Robert Smith of The Cure, who had them play his edition of Meltdown Festival. This year, they will be touring South America as well as bewitching their way through Europe in support of King Dude.
You can pre-order the album via Bandcamp.
