From the Press Release
Midday Moon, LLC, the producer of the motion picture Midnight Son, is happy to announce that FEARnet will premiere the film in the United States in January 2012.
“I’m really thrilled that FEARnet is going to premiere the film,” says writer/director Scott Leberecht. “FEARnet is such a great way to reach out to horror fans, via both their television and VOD platforms, so we’re extremely excited for the movie to be premiering this way.” Producer Matt Compton adds, “FEARnet gives the film an amazing opportunity to be seen by so many horror fans all across the country, and as independent filmmakers, that’s incredibly important to us.”
This marks the first time that FEARnet has acquired a film directly from the filmmakers. “We normally acquire films from distributors, but after seeing the film earlier this year and really loving it, I contacted the filmmakers about acquiring it directly from them,” says Peter Block, FEARnet’s President & General Manager. “I know it will be something that the FEARnet audience will really respond to and will be a perfect fit to our 2012 film lineup.”
The film has garnered rave reviews from its festival screenings around the world this year, including the Sitges Film Festival (Spain), the Punchon International Fantastic Film Festival (South Korea), A Night of Horror International Film Festival (Australia), the Brussells International Fantastic Film Festival (Belgium), CPH PIX (Denmark), the Fantasia International Film Festival (Canada) and Film4 FrightFest (UK). Upcoming festival screenings include the Toronto After Dark Film Festival (Canada) and the Abertoir Horror Festival (UK). The film will also screen as a part of the “Scary Movies” series at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York, NY.
Midnight Son is a dark, character-driven drama that plays on horror themes in an understated, subtle way. The story centers on Jacob, a young man grappling with a dramatic physical transformation. No matter how much he eats, he suffers from malnutrition. To his disgust, he finds the blood in his steak packaging more satisfying than the steak itself. Something is changing inside him. When romance sparks with a young woman named Mary, he wrestles with the monster he’s becoming while desperately trying to keep his new craving a secret.
