I doubt there’s anyone on the planet who’s looking forward to seeing the new Hammer Films version of The Woman in Black more than I am. But I’m willing to bet that after our readers check out this new sneak peek video from last night’s broadcast of Spike TV’s 2011 Scream Awards, I’ll have quite a bit of company. There’s also a new motion poster that gives a good idea of the film’s creepy vibe.
First up is the sneak peek provided by CBS Films. Anyone worried that the brooding, dread-filled feeling of the UK TV movie version of The Woman in Black has been ditched in favor of a more “modern”, fast-paced telling can relax. It’s obvious director James Watkins and the rest of his team get what made the original so great. Below that is the new US motion poster for the flick, which first appeared on EW.com this morning.
Look for The Woman in Black in US theatres on February 3rd, 2012. The UK will be getting it on February 10th, 2012.

Joining star Daniel Radcliffe are Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer, Liz White, Alisa Khazanova, Tim McMullan, Roger Allam, Daniel Cerqueira, Shaun Dooley, Mary Stockley, Cathy Sara, David Burke, Victor McGuire, and Lucy May Barker.
James Watkins (Eden Lake) is at the directorial helm with a screenplay by Jane Goldman.
The Woman in Black follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote corner of the UK and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in an old and isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover its tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he discovers that the local village is held hostage by the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.
