Snoochie-Poochies? Kevin Smith Was Asked to Remake Stephen King’s CUJO

In the past, we’ve heard that Kevin Smith (Clerks) was offered the remake of Toxic Avenger but turned it down, and today we have word Smith was offered something that… makes zero sense to us.

Yes, Smith recently let everyone know via his podcast Hollywood Babble-On (see below) that he was offered a remake of Stephen King’s killer dog flick Cujo. But turned it down too, because, well, because he likes dogs, fuck you.

Here how the exchange went:

SMITH: Can you think of other Stephen King shit you’d like to see (made into a movie)?

GARMAN: I’d like to see CUJO done again. Remember CUJO?

SMITH: I thought that was done well enough the first time. But you know what? Here’s a little inside info: at one point, somebody called up to see if I’d be interested in writing a new CUJO.

GARMAN: No way!

SMITH: Yeah, I was like, ‘I like dogs too much, fuck you!’

I think I’d hard-pass on a Kevin Smith-penned remake of Cujo so this all worked out for everyone. What do you think? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Synopsis:

In this tale of a killer canine, man’s best friend turns into his worst enemy. When sweet St. Bernard Cujo is bitten by a bat, he starts behaving oddly and becomes very aggressive. As Cujo morphs into a dangerous beast, he goes on a rampage in a small town. Stay-at-home mom Donna (Dee Wallace) gets caught in Cujo’s crosshairs on a fateful errand with her son, Tad (Danny Pintauro). Stuck in their tiny car, Donna and Tad have a frightening showdown with the crazed animal.
