Event Coverage: Retro Future Festival II

I’ve never been particularly interested in music, so it probably won’t surprise you that Retro Future Festival II was my first gig. But judging from the experience, it won’t be my last. And I’m not just saying that because they let me spend time in the VIP lounge.

Performers included a wide range of artists who will be instantly recognizable to horror fans, including Sunglasses Kid, whose music was featured in a trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game, Vincenzo Salvia, who worked on the soundtrack for Beyond the Gates, Nightstop of Fantasma fame, Videoman’s Robert Parker, and the Swedish electronic musician Waveshaper. Several of the musicians mentioned also had their songs featured in the acclaimed short film The Summoner, which was written and directed by one of the festival’s organizers, James Secker.

Secker clearly feels that the event was a success, because he was quoted as saying the following:

“A synthwave festival for the fans by the fans. We want to bring people together from all across the globe and deliver the best synth nights imaginable. People had traveled from all around the world to see their favourite artists, from Italy, Germany, Finland. It was terrific to see and I’m over the moon with the end result of the festival.”

You can view some images from Retro Future Festival II, some of which I took myself, and some of which were provided to me. The gallery also includes a poster for Commando Ninja, an upcoming film being produced by Secker, which was on display.
