Del Toro’s SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Starts Shooting Next Week!

Scary Stories to Tell in the DarkA few months back we let you guys know that The Autopsy of Jane Doe director Andre Ovredal will be helming a live-action adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s classic kids-horror books Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Guillermo del Toro is producing and co-writing the film’s script along with Daniel Hageman and Kevin Hageman (The Lego Movie, Hotel Transylvania). And today we have word that via Del Toro himself over on Twitter (see tweet below) that the film will begin shooting next week!

This has got to be one of my most anticipated horror flicks heading our way. I mean, The Autopsy of Jane Doe was a creepy delight and I can only imagine what director Ovredal and producer Del Toro have up their sleeves for us. Bring it on!

The film is directed by Andre Ovredal from a script written by Guillermo del Toro, Daniel Hageman, and Kevin Hageman based on Alvin Schwartz’s internationally best-selling book series. Del Toro will produce the film along with Sean Daniel, Elizabeth Grave, Jason F. Brown and J. Miles Dale. CBS Films distributes the film domestically via Lionsgate.

It will be shot in Toronto next week!

Synopsis:

The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.
