American Horror StoryWell, that sure didn’t take long! FX has placed a second-season order of 13 episodes of “American Horror Story” from Twentieth Century Fox Television, announced John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks. To celebrate (and catch up if you haven’t been watching the show), don’t forget the network is airing a special Halloween marathon featuring the first four episodes of the series tonight, October 31st, beginning at 10:00 PM E/P.

Nine all-new episodes of “AHS” remain in the first season airing Wednesdays at 10:00 PM E/P, with the final two episodes airing December 21.

“It’s one thing to have the ambition and guts to reinvent a genre in a way that makes it captivatingly fresh for a broad audience—it’s something else entirely to have the craft to back that ambition up,” said Landgraf. “Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have hit the trifecta with Nip/Tuck, Glee, and now American Horror Story, which will be scaring FX’s viewers to death for many years to come.”

“American Horror Story” is currently tracking to become the highest-rated first season of any series ever on FX, certain to surpass Murphy’s award-winning hit drama “Nip/Tuck” and also above the award-winning drama “Justified”.

“American Horror Story”, co-created by former “Nip/Tuck” executive producers and current “Glee” co-creators/executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, revolves around The Harmons, a family of three who move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The all star cast features Dylan McDermott (“The Practice”) as “Ben Harmon,” a psychiatrist; Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”) as “Vivien Harmon,” Ben’s wife; Taissa Farmiga as “Violet,” the Harmons’ teenage daughter; Jessica Lange (Tootsie, Blue Sky, Grey Gardens) in her first-ever regular series TV role as “Constance,” the Harmons’ neighbor; Evan Peters (“One Tree Hill”) plays “Tate Langdon,” one of Ben’s patients; and Denis O’Hare (“The Good Wife”) as “Larry Harvey.”

Guest stars for the series include Frances Conroy (“Six Feet Under”) as the Harmons’ housekeeper; Alexandra Breckenridge (Dirt) as the Harmons’ housekeeper; Jamie Brewer as Constance’s daughter; Zachary Quinto; Teddy Sears; Morris Chestnut; Eric Stonestreet; and Sarah Paulson.
