SHARKNADO Goes VR In EYE OF THE STORM
The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time will presumably be the final film in the franchise, but don’t breath a sigh of relief just yet, because we will soon be getting a Sharknado VR experience.
Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm will be released on Steam, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, iOS, and Android later this year. Playing as a survivor stranded in the middle of a shark-filled tornado, you’ll have to search for survivors as you use pistols, shotguns, AK-47s, chainsaws, and even a bazooka for fight of the swarms of hungry sharks, in addition to waves of barracudas, octopi, and jellyfish, and you’ll score extra points for headshots. The levels will take place across a wide variety of locations featured in the films, including New York City, Kansas, and Los Angeles, so you’ll need to keep your eyes open to spot the hidden franchise Easter eggs.
The game is being developed by Autumn VR, with producer and director Dave Hansen appearing at the LA premiere of It’s About Time, where he read the following prepared statement:
“In Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm, players find themselves in the middle of the gory action as they battle freak, fin-filled weather phenomena. It’s a great blend of humor and terror which should appeal to everyone! I mean, who hasn’t fantasized about blowing away a great white coming for them with a bazooka?”
So love it or loathe it, the Sharknado franchise certainly isn’t going away anytime soon. If you happen to be a hardcore Sharknado fan, you’ll probably be glad to see in the trailer below that the silliness which we have come to expect from the movies is very much intact in Eye of the Storm. Head over to the official website for more updates. And remember to bring extra shorts.
