Fantastic Fest 2018 Exclusive: THE BOAT Poster Promises Terror on the Open Seas
Horror movies that are set on open water have a rather fascinating foundation upon which their story can be built. For all intents and purposes, it solves the “haunted house” dilemma of “Why not just leave?” If you can’t go anywhere, you’re forced to stay where the danger is, no matter how much you wish you could escape.
Today, we’re venturing once again into murky waters by bringing you the poster premiere for The Boat, which follows a fisherman who experiences a phantasmagorical terror when he boards a derelict boat that holds dark secrets of its own.
“A lone fisherman, lost in the deep mist, boards an abandoned sailboat. Finding no signs of life, he emerges back on deck only to discover his own boat has disappeared. What follows is a nightmarish journey in which he becomes imprisoned inside as the boat presses on into unknown waters.”
Directed by Winston Azzopardi, who co-wrote alongside Joe Azzopardi, who in turn is the star of the film (whew!), The Boat will be making its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.
