Nautical Supernatural Thriller THE BOAT to World Premiere at Fantastic Fest This Month
For August, we had an “Aquatic Terrors” themed “Month of Dread”, and the upcoming nautical creeper The Boat would have fit in perfectly. Winston Azzopardi, who worked behind the scenes as a producer on blockbusters like World War Z and Assassin’s Creed, is making his directorial debut with The Boat, which he co-wrote with his son, Joe Azzopardi (who also stars in the film).
We’re getting word today that The Boat will enjoy its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX later this month. Here’s the full scoop from today’s press release:
The Boat will screen for the first time at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, preceded by the short film Albatross Soup.
Building on a tradition of eerie, ghostly British tales, The Boat is a menacing thrill ride that pits a violent survival drama against the supernatural. In the leading role, Joe Azzopardi stars as the fisherman, a practical man whose quick thinking and sea-faring experience ensure that his fight against the unnatural force is more than even.
