1987’s PREDATOR Gets the “Honest Trailer” Treatment and We Love It (Honestly!)

The folks at Screen Junkies have made a name for themselves for producing blistering “Honest Trailers” for movies that tell it like it is. And while some of them can be downright mean-spirited, the one they just released for 1987’s Predator is funny as hell and (mostly) complimentary. Sure, it slams some scenes that haven’t aged well, but it also makes clear that Predator (mostly) stands the test of time.

It also includes interesting bits of trivia, like the future political careers of several lead actors and even a clip of Jean-Claude Van Damme in the original (laughable) alien costume before he was fired and replaced. And get a load of The Predator director Shane Black looking rather scrawny in comparison to his castmates.

With The Predator is set to invade theaters this Friday, it’s just the thing to get your nostalgia flowing. Check out the Honest Trailer for 1987’s Predator below, followed by the synopsis and trailer for The Predator.

Synopsis:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biologist can prevent the end of the human race.
