MANDY will Arrive in Theaters & VOD Simultaneously This Weekend; Blu-ray This October

If intergalactic big-game hunters don’t float your boat, there’s another horror movie besides The Predator arriving in US theaters this weekend. Mandy is written and directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) and stars Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough, and Linus Roache.

Mandy has a heavy arthouse vibe, but Bloody Disgusting’s Scott Weinberg wrote a gushing review that reads, in part:

“’Fever dream’ is a term you’ll hear a lot when discussing this movie, and it happens to be one of the most grimly alluring and consistently interesting ‘fever dream’ movies in recent memory. Which is to say: this movie gets super weird sometimes, but it still manages to maintain a forward momentum and narrative logic that keeps one from simply tuning out… If you want a bizarre and blistering revenge story set in a uniquely ominous world, Mandy has a lot to offer.”

Unlike The Predator, however, Mandy will be released in select theaters and VOD simultaneously this weekend; also, a Blu-ray release is already set for October 30th (per High Def Disc News) via RLJ Entertainment. We don’t have any information regarding potential special features, but we’ll keep you posted. Give the unnerving synopsis and trailer for Mandy a spin below.

Synopsis:
Taking place in 1983, Red is a lumberjack who lives in a secluded cabin in the woods. His artist girlfriend Mandy spends her days reading fantasy paperbacks. Then one day, she catches the eye of a crazed cult leader, who conjures a group of motorcycle-riding demons to kidnap her. Red, armed with a chainsaw and other weapons, stops at nothing to get her back, leaving a bloody, brutal pile of bodies in his wake.
