Deathscribe 2011 Presents Live-Action Radio Horror Festival

Okay, Windy City, here’s a unique one for you. WildClaw Theater is proud to announce Deathscribe 2011, the Fourth Annual International Festival of Radio Horror Plays. The evening will feature five live-action performances complete with musical accompaniment and Foley artists creating effects on the spot. Sounds like a really unique event.
The five selected original works of horror are listed below along with the writer and director. I’m telling you, Chi-town, this event looks like it’s worth the price of admission just to see the Foley artists go at it. I initially had to research just what the hell a Foley artist is. If you don’t know, it’s a guy who does sounds effects with all kinds of random items (kinda like how Slipknot plays percussion on beer kegs and brake drums, etc.).
From the Press Release
WildClaw Theatre Company proudly presents Deathscribe 2011, the Fourth Annual International Festival of Radio Horror Plays, on Monday, December 5th, at 8:00 pm. This collection of spine-tingling audio nightmares will be presented at the historic Mayne Stage Theatre, 1328 W. Morse Avenue, Chicago. Admission is $25 ($20 for students w/identification).
Continuing our pursuit of intelligent, imaginative horror storytelling, we solicited and received nearly 100 original works from both theatre and horror aficionados around the world. They will be performed by some of Chicago’s finest actors, accompanied by Seeking Wonderland and a team of sound effects artists. The winner of the “Bloody Axe” will be chosen by a panel of horror and theatre experts. Deathscribe 2011 will present the following five original horror radio plays:
Falling Apart, written by Matthew George, directed by Audrey Francis (Pine Box Theatre, Black Box Acting Studio).
The Dark Muse, written by Colin Johnson, directed by Kimberly Senior (Strawdog Theatre, Next Theatre, Steppenwolf).
Alabama Mermaid, written by Jessica Wright Buha, directed Carolyn Hoerdemann (Court Theatre, DePaul University).
Legacy, written by Christopher Hainsworth, directed by Carolyn Klein (Seanachai Theatre, Deathscribe 2010).
Entity, written by Thomas J. Misuraca, directed by Manny Tamayo (The Factory Theater).
