Tony Todd on Jordan Peele’s CANDYMAN Remake

Candyman. Candyman. Candyman.

We all know by this point that evidently writer-director Jordan Pelle (Get Out) is working on a remake of Clive Barker’s Candyman. And all of us here at Dread Central couldn’t be more excited.

But what does the original man with the hook, Tony Todd think of this possible reboot? Well, the guys over at Nightmare on Film Street spoke with the Candyman recently regarding his upcoming amusement park slasher film Hell Fest and the conversation quickly turned towards Peele’s potential remake.

Todd told them:

“I’m honored. If Jordan wants to do it, do it. I know I’d rather have him do it, someone with intelligence, who’s going to be thoughtful and dig into the whole racial makeup of who Candyman is and why he existed in the first place. I know he’ll give homage and I know that if it gets made, I’ll have a plate at the table one way or the other.”
