The story of the Frankenstein monster is one of the most enduring tales in the history of horror. From Mary Shelley’s original telling through the classic 1931 film and the sequels that followed to the multiple new visions of the tale, it seems the possibilities for expanding on the experiments of Dr. Frankenstein are endless. And now we’ve got an upcoming film bringing an entirely new angle to the tale.
Frankenstein: Day of the Beast is an original take on the legend. As you’ll see by the trailer below, the film contains aspects of Shelley’s original story but adds a large amount of action to the mix. The film was written and directed by Ricardo Islas and stars Adam Stephenson and Michelle Shields with Tim Krueger in the role of the monster.

From the Press Release
We all know the story; we’ve seen the movies. You may think it’s impossible to have a new approach to Frankenstein. Think again. On a foggy winter morning, a priest is sent by raft to an isolated island. He will be performing a wedding ceremony under very mysterious conditions. The groom is Victor Frankenstein. The young and beautiful bride is Elizabeth. Seven armed and dangerous mercenary soldiers have been hired to protect her from something evil that lurks in the woods, awaiting the wedding consummation. Victor is the only one who knows the truth about their enemy. His secret will cost him the lives of each of his men as the creature gets closer to his target: the bride.
In the style of a Hammer of movie, but action packed a la Predator, this is a take on Frankenstein you have never seen and will never forget.
The world premiere of Frankenstein: Day of the Beast will take place at The Portage Theater, located at 4050 N. Milwaukee in Chicago, on Sunday, November 27th at 4pm. The movie will also be shown at the Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge on December 1st with the times to be announced.
“We stayed within the plot to honor Mary Shelley’s legendary original, but we added our own twist to the storyline. It’s a brand new ride on an old name you know well,” said Ricardo Islas, director and producer. “It’s an action packed, old-style Hammer type of movie, completely filmed in Chicago and showcasing outstanding Chicago actors Adam Stephenson, Michelle Shields and Tim Krueger. This is a take on Frankenstein that you’ve never seen and will never forget.”
