Shudder Will Be the Exclusive Home of 2018’s Breakout Horror Hit MANDY

Featuring a completely unhinged Nicholas Cage, a band of hellish motorcycle-riding mutants, and a macaroni spewing Cheddar Goblin, Panos Cosmatos’s Mandy is an unexpected breakout hit; the film has “Future Cult Classic” written all over it! Though heavy on arthouse sensibilities, the surreal fever dream is attracting hardcore and mainstream entertainment-seekers alike.

The film hit limited theaters and VOD platforms last month, but we’re getting word today that the horror streaming service Shudder will be Mandy’s permeant digital domicile. Here’s the full scoop from today’s press release:

(October 17, 2018, New York, N.Y.) — The film that IndieWire called “astonishing,” Newsweek hailed as a “fable from an alternate dimension,” that has a 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic named a “must see” is coming soon to Shudder! AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for thriller, suspense, and horror acquired the exclusive streaming rights to Mandy in the US from RLJ Entertainment earlier this Spring. It also acquired the Canadian rights from Elevation Pictures.

Craig Engler, GM Shudder, said: “We were blown away by Mandy at Sundance and immediately knew we had to get this mind-bending masterpiece, which features an absolutely astonishing performance by Nicolas Cage, exclusively for Shudder members. We can’t wait for our members to see it”.

Mandy has been playing to sell-out crowds in the US since its limited release in September. The film has already been hailed as a new cult classic, and Cage’s performance is being called one of the best in his long and illustrious career.

Directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) and produced by SpectreVision, XYZ Films, and Umedia, Mandy features Oscar and Golden Globe winner Nicolas Cage in a stunning performance as a man whose peaceful woodland existence with his wife is brutally shattered by a nightmarish hippie cult and their demon-biker henchmen, propelling him into a spiraling, surreal rampage of vengeance. Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Bloodline) and Linus Roache (Homeland, Batman Begins) also star.
