John Carpenter Teases Matt Reeves’ THEY LIVE 2
John Carpenter has been out and about talking up a Shudder series based on this cult hit Prince of Darkness, and talking down Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Big Trouble in Little China sequel.
But today Carpenter is teasing that Dawn & War of the Planet of the Apes and Let Me In director Matt Reeves was once – or still is – working on a direct sequel to his bubblegum-chewing, kiss-kicking classic They Live.
“Well, I’m not gonna tell you about that, because it might be closer to reality than you think,” Carpenter told Den of Geek. “There was a feature film. It was a feature film called Resistance, written by, oh, the guy who did the Apes movies. Matt Reeves. But then he moved on, and so the sequel is, well, we’ll see. We’ll just have to see.”
Now I can’t quite tell if this means They Live 2 (or Resistance) is still in the works with Matt Reeves behind the scenes, but it sure sounds like there is more They Live headed our way soon. Let’s hope Halloween is a mega-hit, like Stephen King’s IT, and we have a rush of Carpenter projects as well.
