Aubrey Plaza Shares Starling Prank Video from Set of MGM’s CHILDS PLAY Remake
While we haven’t seen much from the production of MGM’s Child’s Play reboot, but star Aubrey Plaza made an Instagram post last week that amounts to our first official look behind the scenes. It’s a prank shot on set; we see director Lars Klevberg calling “Action” as elevator doors open revealing a crew of young cast members. Unbeknownst to them, Plaza’s co-star Brian Tyree Henry is hiding just out of sight—ready to pounce.
Mild hilarity ensues. It’s not like they used the new Chucky to create the scare. Still, it’s our first look at what’s in store when MGM’s Child’s Play arrives in theaters at an unspecified date in 2019. The posse of tweens suggests producers may be trying to create a Stranger Things vibe. Time will tell.
It’s worth noting that horror fans are divide regarding MGM’s Child’s Play. Not only is a reboot unnecessary, considering 2017’s Cult of Chucky was a moderate hit, but original Chucky scribe Don Mancini is still expanding the current franchise in the form of a TV series. Not only does it seem uncouth to create a competing series, but MGM’s Chucky (reportedly) will no longer be driven by the soul of a serial killer, rather he’ll be some kind of A.I. rum amuck. Say what?
Whether you’re for it or against it, it’s impossible not to be curious about what’s in the works at MGM. W’ell keep you posted on all Child’s Play news (original franchise and reboot) as details emerge. Stay tuned!
