James Wan’s SWAMP THING Series Casts Its Madame Xanadu
James Wan and Gary Dauberman’s upcoming TV adaptation of DC’s Swamp Thing will be the just-launched digital subscription service DC Universe’s flagship offering. Derek Mears has been cast as Swamp Thing himself and today we have word the series as cast another lead role, Madame Xanadu.
Deadline reports that Jeryl Prescott has joined the cast as Xanadu, “a blind fortune teller with a mysterious past and supernatural perceptions that reveal the future.” Prescott is known for her roles in The Walking Dead, The Skeleton Key, and Birth of a Nation.
Wan and Dauberman executive produce alongside Mark Verheiden, Michael Clear and Len Wiseman. Rob Hackett is co-producer. Len Wiseman directs the pilot from a script by Verheiden and Dauberman. Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.
The show will launch next year. No specific release date has been announced.
