PENNY DREADFUL Resurrected on Showtime with CITY OF ANGELS
The Gothic horror series Penny Dreadful ran for three seasons on Showtime between 2014 and 2016; though it amassed an enviable following, a ratings slump led to the show’s cancellation. Today, however, we’re getting word that the Victorian monster mashup is returning from the grave in the form of a new Showtime series: Penny Dreadful: City of Angeles.
The news came via Twitter and, while details are scant, it appears the London-set property will be moving across the pond to America:

For the uninitiated, Penny Dreadful follows “Explorer Sir Malcolm Murray, American gunslinger Ethan Chandler, scientist Victor Frankenstein, and medium Vanessa Ives as they unite to combat supernatural threats in Victorian London.” The series was created by John Logan and stars Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, and Eva Green.
