First Image of Laura Vandervoort in Soska Sisters’ RABID Remake
AFM (the American Film Market), the largest motion picture even in the world, is currently in full swing in Santa Monica, CA. In between the deal-making, we’re getting our first image from Jen and Sylvia Soska’s remake of David Cronenberg’s Rabid! If features Laura Vandervoort as Rose, a woman looking much worse for wear following a devastating car accident.
THR got the exclusive:
Vandervoort stars as Rose, a young woman who, following a disfiguring accident, undergoes a radical, untested stem-cell treatment, with horrifying consequences. Film Mode Entertainment and 101 Films International presented the first footage of the film to buyers at the AFM this week. The Jigsaw actress is reprising the Rabid role played by porn actress Marilyn Chambers in Cronenberg’s original. Code Black actor Ben Hollingsworth and former WME Champion Phil Brooks, aka CM Punk, co-star.
Synopsis:
What happens when you realize that to achieve your dreams you have to live a nightmare? Rose is a quiet, demure, unassuming woman in her looks and actions. Her dream is to become a famous designer in the fashion world, but a terrible accident leaves Rose scarred beyond recognition. She seeks out a radical untested stem cell treatment. The treatment is nothing short of a miracle and wallflower Rose turns into the belle of the ball. It all seems too good to be true. She is now everything she wanted to be. But everything in life comes at a price and this new-found perfect life is no exception.
We still don’t have a target release date, but with images hitting the Internet, a trailer can’t be too far off (fingers crossed). We’ll keep our ears to the ground in order to bring you all Rabid-related news as details emerge. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, check out the synopsis and trailer for 1977’s Rabid below.
Synopsis:
A young woman develops a taste for human blood after undergoing experimental plastic surgery, and her victims turn into rabid, blood-thirsty zombies who proceed to infect others, which turns into a city-wide epidemic.
