Thank Satan! Settlement Reached in Lawsuit Against CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA Baphomet Statue
We’ve been following the bizarre lawsuit filed by The Satanic Temple (not to be confused with the Church of Satan) against Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina over the appropriation of a Baphomet statue in the lobby of The School for Unseen Arts. See, STS claimed copyright infringement, as they had recently commissioned a Baphomet statue that bore more than just a passing semblance. Have a look for yourself.

TST was seeking a whopping $50M from Netflix and/or parent company Warner Bros, but, like some sort of unholy Thanksgiving miracle, The Hollywood Reporter brings news that the suit has been settled:
“The Satanic Temple is pleased to announce that the lawsuit it recently filed against Warner Bros. and Netflix has been amicably settled,” Satanic Temple attorney Stuart de Haan told THR. “The unique elements of the Satanic Temple’s Baphomet statue will be acknowledged in the credits of episodes which have already been filmed. The remaining terms of the settlement are subject to a confidentiality agreement.”
This clears any potential hurdles that threatened production of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 2 (which has already been greenlit). We’ll also be seeing more of the now-platinum blond teenage witch when Sabrina returns for a holiday special in December.

Synopsis:
This adaptation of the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” tale is a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror and the occult. In the reimagined origin story, Sabrina Spellman wrestles to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family — including aunts Hilda and Zelda — and the daylight world humans inhabit. Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”) leads the cast in the titular role of the show that is based on a comic series of the same name.
