A GUIDE TO THE PERFECT MURDER Blurs Line Between Techno-Thriller/Creepypasta and Realistic “How To”
“Live by these rules: Keep your hair short, cut your nails, don’t hunt when you’re feeling unwell, always carry medical gloves…”
Thanks to YouTube and instructional videos, average Joes like me can find out how to accomplish anything. Need to fix the floater in your toilet? No problem. Want to learn how to play the ukulele? Covered. You can even find instructional videos explaining how to launch your own horror website! But what about committing the perfect murder?
Reddit user u/Trench_Survivor spent considerable time in the No Sleep subreddit, a forum dedicated to telling compelling and terrifying works of short fiction. It was also the perfect arena for discussing the darker aspects of human existence. After establishing his presence, u/Trench_Survivor treated (and perhaps horrified) his fellow Reddit-makes with an epic thread titled: A Guide To The Perfect Murder.
Before going a step further it’s important to state without equivocation that No Sleep is a subreddit dedicated to fiction and A Guide To The Perfect Murder is written as such. But that doesn’t make it any less terrifying, especially when narrated by YouTuber 4Warnings. While her soothing voice juxtaposes the callous and calculated delivery of u/Trench_Survivor’s “story”, it includes some cinematic aspects that really suck you in—most notably the “victim” screaming for help and struggling in the background. It plays out like a spinoff of Dexter.
Give 4Warnings’ synopsis/statement a look-see below before settling in for A Guide To The Perfect Murder at the bottom of the article. And, just to be on the safe side, don’t share this with any of your unstable, impulsive friends with anger issues!
Synopsis:
General Disclaimer: For those who cannot differentiate between a work of fiction being narrated for the sole purpose of entertainment… and an ACTUAL guideline for committing acts of homicide being carelessly distributed over the internet… Please allow me to clarify by saying: 1) You’re an idiot, and 2) It’s the former.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I truly cannot thank Reddit user u/Trench_Survivor enough for once again allowing me the opportunity to narrate his incredible work. This one… Yep. This one was a doozy… And if I’m being completely honest, that’s one HELL of an understatement too. However! With a little dedication, challenges like these can make for some of the best, most creative results. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a blast (pun slightly intended) working on this project… despite how much sleep I may have lost in the process.
