HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT Director Gary J. Tunnicliffe Talks Future of the HELLRAISER Franchise

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been sharing a series of videos produced by UK film critic and academic Mr. H; he’s gotten his hands on the notoriously-hard-to-get screenplay for Clive Barker’s unmade 2014 Hellraiser reboot. The explorations have been treasure troves of unearthly delights, postulating what could have been with a new mythology for the Lament Configuration and a new version of the Hell Priest, Pinhead.

Today, Mr. H released the first part of an ongoing interview with Hellraiser: Judgment writer/director Gary J. Tunnicliffe. Believe it or not, Judgment is the best of the straight-to-DVD chapters in the Hellraiser saga—by a long shot. The film was bolstered in no small part by the introduction of a new crew of pseudo-Cenobites who joined the OG’s Pinhead and Chatterer.

In today’s video, Tunnicliffe discusses the future of the Hellraiser franchise. Other topics discussed include this year’s megahit Hereditary, Venom, and The Witch. He also explains how the disintegration of The Weinstein company factors into the equation.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, peep the trailer and synopsis for Hellraiser: Judgement below.

Synopsis:
Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to hunt down a gruesome serial killer who is terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a maze of horror, which may lead them into the depths of hell.

Hellraiser: Judgment stars Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, and Alexandra Harris.
