Concept Art Reveals Terrifying Monkey Hybrids We Didn’t See in THE PREDATOR
Shane Black’s The Predator began production in 2016 but didn’t hit theaters until this last September. The extraordinarily long production period was due to massive re-edits, re-cuts, and re-shoots. Characters were completely omitted while the entire 3rd Act was scrapped and remade from scratch in the final hours. No doubt tons of footage was left on the cutting room floor.
One aspect of the original script for The Predator that was dialed back for the final product was Predator/animal hybrids. We saw the dogs in Black’s film, but the script contained spiders, bats, lizards, and (most intriguing) a monkey. Now, concept art by Constantine Serekis has emerged online, showing just how terrifying these simian suckers might have been. Have a look-see below.
Black directed The Predator from a screenplay penned by Fred Dekker; the film’s sizable ensemble cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, and Olivia Munn. Look for it on Blu-ray/DVD beginning December 18th. If you didn’t catch The Predator when it was in theaters, check out the synopsis and trailer below.
Synopsis:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biologist can prevent the end of the human race.
